Upcoming industrial rock releases

New material on the way from Society Burning, SMP, Idiot Stare, Unit:187, 16volt, Chemlab, Sunna, Skold, Christ Analogue and possibly Die Warzau. It seems 2010 is doing its utmost to top 2009 in kicking ass.

Society Burning are set to release their third full-length "Internal Combustion" sometime this year. The whole thing seems to be recorded and all, now they're just working on distribution (or so I've heard from reliable sources). In the meantime make sure to check out their previous discs, "State.of.decay" which is available from CDBaby, "Tactiq" which I think should be available on iTunes or through Amazon (at least the marketplace) and "Entropy.Lingua" which is actually available for free through Fabryka. There are some preview tracks of the upcoming "Internal Combustion" on MySpace, ReverbNation and Vampire Freaks. As an added bonus, the mythic Watchmen cassettes might become available to the world once again...

Jason Bazinet, "that guy from SMP", is probably releasing "Coda" (at the moment looks to be an EP of new material, covers and possibly previously unreleased tracks) later this year. Currently he's gearing up to a massive job on the MIDI Ghetto Tour which kicks off tomorrow, drumming for both Chemlab and 16volt. Be sure to visit the SMP HQ for a bunch of great downloads (album tracks, covers, remixes, rarities and more). All albums (except for "Stalemate") are available through CD Baby.

Idiot Stare seem to be spending time in the studio working on the follow-up to 2006's "Welcome to Babylon", which should be good. No title as yet as far as I know.

Unit:187 have a new album, titled "Out for Blood" finished and available for previews. It should be possible to purchase fairly soon. From the previews it sounds a bit harder than 2003's "Capital Punishment" and closer to their first two albums (the self-titled debut and "Loaded").

On May 11th 16volt are releasing their first remix CD, "American Porn Songs // Remixed" (lots of info, plus streams of remixes that didn't make the album available here), and it seems as though Eric is already working on new tracks for an upcoming release tentatively called "Everyone Is Sinking". Be sure to check out the interview on the Razor Blade Dance Floor podcast #135 (and the rest of RBDF's excellent 'casts!). Also, the entire 16volt back catalogue (prior to "FullBlackHabit") is available on the 16volt website. Don't miss that!

Jared Louche's Chemlab will start burning sodium halos and frying circuits along with 16volt and Left Spine Down on the MGTour starting tomorrow, but is also set to (finally!) release "Machine God", the follow-up to 2004's "Oxidizer" some time later this year. Also in the pipeline is "Feast of Burnt Ram", a collection of rare and rusty rivets from Chemlab's career. There's also been hints (or, if you will, threats) that "Burn Out at the Hydrogen Bar" might be subjected to the Jared-Faux-Jazz™ treatment. I for one am stoked about this possibility.

It also seems as if Wade Alin might resurrect Christ Analogue for a possible new EP late summer/early fall, before embarking on a tour (which I suspect will not take him over to Europe, but hey, I'm happy for you guys in the US). Lately he's been doing really fantastic trip hop/electronica in The Atomica Project with Lauren Cheatham. Basically all of the AP releases are available for free download here. There's also a new AP EP in the works.

Sunna, who released "Two Minute Terror", the follow-up to 2000's "One Minute Science" are already working on a third album. So no new nearly decade long wait this time. I really like that.

Tim Skold has announced an upcoming album to be released "early 2010". So far only three songs have surfaced. "I Will Not Forget" which was featured on the TV series "FlashForward" and "A Dark Star" and "Bullets Ricochet" (which should be available as singles on iTunes). All three can be previewed here.

Rounding up, I've even read rumours about a new Die Warzau album coming out. So yeah. Pretty stellar year ahead. Anyone lucky enough to be in the US, do not miss the MIDI Ghetto Tour! Information (again) can be found here.

I would also like to push a bit for Welt Muzik, which started out as an idea for a record label, but turned into "a tribe of likeminded artists and musicians gathering together to promote and distribute each other's art". Among the great artists associated are 16volt, The Atomica Project, Broken Heart Sindrome, Caustic, Chemlab, Christ Analogue, Cyanotic, Flutter, Motor, Prude, Society Burning, Vi11AiN and We Got This Far. Lots of previews and info available on the website.
